Explanation
1. Need: This legislation authorizes the Director of Public Utilities to contract for the necessary construction services associated with the Rose Run North Subtrunk, Locust Alley North Sewer Extension Project, and to pay a maximum of $67,791.60. This ordinance also requests authority to expend up to $15,000.00 with the Department of Transportation for construction administration, inspection and prevailing wage coordination services.

WHEREAS, the Director of Public Utilities publicly opened and read two competitive bids for the construction of the Rose Run North Subtrunk, Locust Alley North Sewer Extension Project were received on July 16, 2003; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary for this City Council to authorize the Director of the Department of Public Utilities to award and execute a contract and to fund the payment of construction administration services for the Rose Run North Subtrunk, Locust Alley North Sewer Extension Project; to authorize the transfer the required funds within the Sewer System Permanent Improvements Fund; at the earliest practicable date, now, therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
Section 1. That the City Auditor is hereby authorized and directed to transfer $82,791.60 from within the Sewer system Permanent Improvements Fund No. 671| Division 60-05 as follows:

Section 2. That the Director of Public Utilities be, and hereby is, authorized to award and execute a contract for construction of the Rose Run North Subtrunk, Locust Alley North Sewer Extension Project, with the lowest and best bidder, Nickolas M. Savko & Sons Company, Inc., 4636 Shuster Road, Columbus, Ohio 43214, in the amount of $67,791.60 in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Contract on file in the office of the Division of Sewerage and Drainage; to obtain the necessary construction inspection and prevailing wage coordination services and to pay up to a maximum of $15,000.00 therefore.
Section 3. That for the purpose of paying the cost of construction contract, together with inspection and prevailing wage coordination services for the improvements, the expenditure of $82,791.60, or as much thereof as may be needed, is hereby authorized within the Sewer System Permanent Improvements Fund No. 671| Project: Rose Run North Subtrunk| Proj. No.: 650474| OCA Code 671474| Oject Level Three No.: 6630| Amount: $82,791.60.
Section 4. That the 2003 Capital Improvements Budget Ordinance No. 1943-2003 is hereby amended as follows, in order to provide sufficient budget authority for the execution of the capital improvements project expenditures delineated within Section 4 herein:
