Explanation

The purpose of this ordinance is to authorize the City Clerk to enter into a grant agreement with Kingdom Image Arts, a not-for-profit entity, in support of their Family Fun programming.

Kingdom Image Arts (KIA) began as a way to connect the arts with the people of Columbus, and to show how creativity shapes everyday life. Since 2013, the organization has grown into a multi-disciplinary home for artists of every age. KIA hosts Family Fun Days and the Outdoor Summer Series (8 events) at the KIA Performance Center (2501 Mock Road, Columbus OH). These programs create a safe space for families to gather in their own community, providing access to education, basic needs, and resources while enjoying entertainment. Family Fun Days and the Outdoor Series create an opportunity and collaboration with residents making their community a safe and enjoyable place to live, work, and play. As the only service programming provider in the North Central Area, these programs are targeted specifically for the North Central Area and will serve 43219, 43211, and 43224 zip codes.

City Council is proposing $20,000.00 for the Family Fun programming.

FISCAL IMPACT:  $20,000.00 is available within the Neighborhood Initiatives subfund for this purpose.
