To Recognize Roderick Q. Blount, Jr., Grand Thrice Illustrious Master of the Most Illustrious Prince Hall Grand Council Royal and Select Masters of the State of Ohio and Its Jurisdiction

WHEREAS, Roderick “Rodney” Q. Blount, Jr. is a native of Columbus, Ohio, and he is an educator with the ESCCO in the Southwestern City School District. Roderick received two Bachelor of Arts degrees in History and Political Science from Ball State University; Master of Arts degrees from the Ohio State University and Ohio University; and
WHEREAS, Roderick is a Contributing Editor for the Columbus African American News Journal. He has also been featured in several newspapers for his book on the history of African Americans in Greene County, Ohio; and
WHEREAS, Roderick is also a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. (Life member), ASALH, the GUOOF, the Chancellor’s, OEA, NEA, CULYP, FCYD, COYBD, Logan Family Reunion (Historian), Toastmasters Intl., NAACP and a Kentucky Colonel; and
WHEREAS, Roderick has served the Prince Hall Masonic family in the following positions: Samaritan Lodge #117 (Worshipful Master 2010-2013), Cory Adams Lodge of Research #126 (Charter member), MWPHGLOH (Grand Historian, Third District Youth Supervisor, Asst. Grand Secretary), African Lodge #459, KYCH, 33rd Degree Mason; and
WHEREAS, Roderick was elected as Grand Thrice Illustrious Master of the Most Illustrious Prince Hall Grand Council Royal and Select Masters of the State of Ohio and Its Jurisdiction in May 2023 and will be honored on May, 18, 2024, at the GTIM Banquet in Blue Ash, OH; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: That this Council does hereby recognize Roderick Q. Blount, Jr. on his dedication to serving the community and on receiving this distinct honor.
