Explanation
This ordinance authorizes the City Auditor to make payment to the Columbus Museum of Art for services rendered for naturalization ceremony that took place on June 13, 2023. The funds were spent on an event space, food, and beverages at the Columbus Museum of Art for a naturalization ceremony hosted by the City in partnership with the office of Chief Justice Algenon Marbley. Attendees included petitioners, their families and guests, court staff, council staff, and museum staff. Refreshments included a light breakfast and beverages catered by the museum and to declare an emergency.

City Code Section 329.35 permits the purchase of food and beverages for a public purpose and permits the use of funds for community programs and events sponsored by the City. The expenditure of public funds was an integral part of the success of the naturalization ceremony.

FISCAL IMPACT: Funding in the amount of $5,998.00 is available and appropriated for the payment of this expenditure in Fund 1000, subfund 100018 within Columbus City Council as noted in the attached “Then and Now Certificate” as approved by the City Auditor.
EMERGENCY PASSAGE: Passage by emergency is requested in order to meet the requirements of R.C. Section 5705.41(D)(1) so that payment can be made within thirty days of receiving the Then and Now Certificate.
