To Commend, Recognize, and Celebrate Brian Asamoah’s Annual Youth Football Camp

WHEREAS, Brian Asamoah, hailing from Columbus, Ohio, stands as a shining testament to the city's exceptional upbringing, embodying the pride and resilience fostered within its vibrant community; and
WHEREAS, after graduating from St. Francis De Sales High School, Asamoah enrolled at the University of Oklahoma where he became an integral player for the Sooners football team; and
WHEREAS, Asamoah displayed an impressive record and his constant improvement culminated in him being named second-team All-Big 12 after his junior season; and
WHEREAS, not only did Asamoah demonstrate formidability on the field, but he was also a star in the classroom where he made the conference’s Academic First Team that same year; and
WHEREAS, following the recognition he garnered, Asamoah announced his participation in the highly anticipated 2022 Draft, in which the Vikings handpicked him as the 66th overall pick in the third round, acknowledging his exceptional talents and positioning him as a trailblazer set to play a pivotal role in fortifying the Vikings’ defense; and
WHEREAS, this past offseason the NFL selected Brian to spearhead the NFL Africa Program-an initiative focused on growing the NFL globally-where he guided youth of various ages to develop the game of football on the continent; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: This Council respectfully acknowledges and wholeheartedly celebrates the momentous launch of Brian Asamoah's Annual Youth Football Camp in its extraordinary endeavor to present a remarkable opportunity for the youth of the Columbus community.
