To commend and thank Mr. Ken Freedman for his outstanding service to NBC4 and the City of Columbus.

WHEREAS, Mr. Freedman received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Kent State University in 1979; and
WHEREAS, 44 years ago, Ken began his career in news which moved him around the country, where he lived in New York, Orlando, Salt Lake City, Portland, and the Quad Cities, before coming to Columbus; and
WHEREAS, for the last 8 and a half years, Ken has served as the General Manager for NBC4; and
WHEREAS, Ken’s work in reporting and dedication to the community through Local 4 You has helped to keep Columbus residents informed, educated, entertained, and safe; and
WHEREAS, one of Ken’s proudest achievements is the NBC4 urban farm, located behind NBC4 headquarters and adjacent to Riverview Drive, that provides fresh produce and educational opportunities for the neighborhood’s New American and immigrant residents; and
WHEREAS, Ken was inspired by his father and followed in his footsteps and has thus chosen to retire on July 21st, 2023, his father’s birthday; and
WHEREAS, on behalf of the Columbus City Council and the residents of Columbus, we commend Ken Freedman, who is retiring from NBC4 on July 21st, 2023, for his years of dedication and commitment to keeping residents of Columbus informed. He has served as a role model for his co-workers and family and will continue to do so into retirement; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: That this Council does hereby recognize the successful career and outstanding service of Ken Freedman and urge all members of our community to join in recognition of this significant occasion.
