Explanation
This ordinance authorizes the City Clerk to enter into a grant agreement with the Columbus Fashion Initiative, a non-profit corporation, in support of 614 Day.

614 Day occurs every June 14th and was recently recognized by Columbus City Council as a city holiday. The first 614 Day took place in 2016 at Seventh Son brewery. Since then, the celebration has expanded throughout the City to help all residents buy, support, celebrate, volunteer and love local.

This year’s 614 Day will take place at the Columbus Commons with attendance by locals and visitors expected to exceed 4,000. General admission will be free for all to enjoy the will feature amazing local experiences, entertainment, food, music, artists, communities and activities.

Emergency action is requested in order to execute a grant agreement in advance of June 14.

Fiscal Impact: Funding is available within the Neighborhood Initiatives subfund.

WHEREAS, 614 Day occurs every June 14th; and

WHEREAS, this year’s 614 Day will take place at the Columbus Commons with attendance by locals and visitors expected to exceed 4,000; and

WHEREAS, general admission will be free for all to enjoy the will feature amazing local experiences, entertainment, food, music, artists, communities and activities; and

WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily business of the City Clerk in that it is immediately necessary to authorize a grant agreement in advance of the event on June 14, 2023, all for the immediate preservation of the public health, peace, property, safety and welfare; and now therefore,
