To Honor, Recognize and Celebrate the Life of Oneda Eubanks, 1941-2023

 

Body

WHEREAS, Oneda Eubanks was born on May 17, 1941, in Boissevain, Virginia; and

 

WHEREAS, in the early 1960s, Oneda moved to Columbus, Ohio and married her husband Howard Eubanks in 1962, with whom she had one child, Sheila Ann Eubanks; and

 

WHEREAS, Oneda’s career began at Lazarus in Downtown Columbus, though she moved to the Lazarus location at the Eastland Mall soon after it opened, working there until her retirement on July 1, 2000; and

WHEREAS, through serving in the Nurse’s Ministry at Ebenezer Baptist Church, attending the Temple of Compassion, and volunteering and working at Christ the King Catholic School, Oneda demonstrated both her faith in God and her passion for serving her community; and

WHEREAS, throughout her life, Oneda was committed to giving back to her Southfield community and the City of Columbus, volunteering with Mayor Michael B. Coleman’s Cap City Kids program, serving as the Precinct Judge for the Franklin County Board of Elections in Southfield, and being a member of the Marion Franklin Civic Association; and

WHEREAS, along with being a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother Oneda showed her love for her family by planning and attending every Eubanks Family Reunion since 1973; and


WHEREAS, the City of Columbus extends its sincere condolences to the friends and family of Oneda Eubanks and everyone in the community who is mourning her recent passing; now, therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: That this Council does hereby honor, recognize, and celebrate the life of Oneda Eubanks.
