Recognize and Celebrate National Nurses Week and the Contributions of Nurses to the City of Columbus.

WHEREAS, from May 6 to May 12, the nation observes National Nurses Week, honoring the invaluable service and unwavering dedication of nurses towards caring for others and enhancing the nation's health. This period culminates on May 12, commemorating Florence Nightingale's birth; and,
WHEREAS, Nurses Week is a time to applaud the relentless effort, commitment, and sacrifices made by nurses daily. Serving as integral members of America's healthcare system, nurses provide compassionate care across all stages of life, supporting patients during their most vulnerable moments; and,
WHEREAS, The Ohio Nurses Association, since its establishment in 1904, has steadfastly championed and advanced the nursing profession, recognizing its profound impact on communities. Today, the ONA remains the primary advocate for Ohio's nearly 200,000 registered nurses; and,
WHEREAS, The Ohio State University Nurses Organization (OSUNO), representing staff nurses at The Ohio State University Medical Center, stands as a beacon of empowerment and advocacy for nurses and healthcare workers. OSUNO tirelessly advocates for professional rights, upholds standards of practice, and advocates for quality patient care across central Ohio; and,
WHEREAS, The City of Columbus proudly supports and promotes National Nurses Week initiatives throughout the municipality, acknowledging the personal and professional sacrifices made by nurses and healthcare professionals in serving our community, whether in the public or private sector; and,
WHEREAS, During National Nurses Week, the City of Columbus extends heartfelt gratitude to our nurses for their unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional care to their patients. Their remarkable contributions and positive impact on our community warrant special recognition; now, therefore,
