Explanation
BACKGROUND
This ordinance authorizes the Administrative and Presiding Judge of the Franklin County Municipal Court to accept two grants in the amount of $26,000 and $50,000 from the Franklin County Office of Justice Policy & Programs and to appropriate the total amount of the grant from the unappropriated balance of the general government grant fund to the Probation Department of the Franklin County Municipal Court. The first grant ($26,000) will fund services provided by Equitas Health for Intimate Partner Abuse & Batterer’s Intervention Programming specifically for the LGBTQ community. The second grant ($50,000) will fund three assessment specialists from Alvis Inc. for the provision of pre-trial intake support and risk-based assessments in the Municipal Court.
Emergency Legislation is requested so that the grant funds can be used by 12/31/23, and we do not have to use general fund monies to cover a break in service.
FISCAL IMPACT
$76,000.00 will be expended from the General Government Grant Fund.
