Explanation

BACKGROUND: The Board of Health has been awarded grant funds from the Ohio Department of Health to fund the Child and Family Health Services (CFHS) Perinatal Program for the period July 1, 2009 through June 30, 2010. The Health Department has a need to make funds available for the CFHS program to provide for high risk perinatal services from The Ohio State University Research Foundation.

The Ohio State University Research Foundation has a continuous relationship of providing high risk perinatal care services under the Child and Family Health Services Perinatal Program. Many women seen in the perinatal program are high-risk and uninsured patients, and it is necessary that they be provided access to this specialized service.

These services were advertised through the City's Vendor Services website (SA003307) and the OSU Research Foundation was the only submitted bid. This contract is for the first year of a five-year contract. The Ohio State University Research Foundation's FID Number is 31-6401599. It is a non-profit organization and is therefore exempt from contract compliance.

Emergency action is requested in order to avoid any delays in providing program services.

FISCAL IMPACT: Funding for this expenditure is provided with Grant Funds from the Ohio Department of Health in the amount of $109,500.
