Explanation

BACKGROUND: Since 1998, the Columbus Health Department (CHD) has contracted with the Columbus Neighborhood Health Center, Inc. (CNHC), a not-for-profit corporation, to provide primary health care services to medically indigent patients at five neighborhood health centers. The CHD and CNHC have collaborated to provide comprehensive community dental health services to individuals and families living in Columbus. Under this contract, CNHC will provide dental supplies and equipment maintenance to the Family Dental Clinic at the CHD's 240 Parsons Avenue facility. CNHC's Contract Compliance No. is 311533908.

Emergency action is requested in order to avoid any delays in providing program services.

FISCAL IMPACT: Funding for this purchase is budgeted in the Health Special Revenue Fund, Fund No. 250.

Body

WHEREAS, the Columbus Neighborhood Health Center, Inc., has a need to ensure that dental health care services continue to be provided to individuals and families in Columbus; and,

WHEREAS, the Columbus Neighborhood Health Center, Inc., and the Columbus Board of Health have entered into an affiliation agreement to provide comprehensive community dental health services to individuals and families living in Columbus; and,

WHEREAS, a need exists for dental supplies and equipment maintenance services for the Family Dental Clinic; and,

WHEREAS, this Council finds that it is in the best interest of the City to waive competitive bidding requirements for this contract; and,
