To honor, recognize, and congratulate the All-Ohio Red fourth grade team for winning the 2011 AAU 4th Grade Division I Boys Basketball National Championship.

WHEREAS, the mission of the Amateur Athletic Union of the USA, Inc. (AAU) is to offer amateur sports programs through a volunteer base for all people to have the physical, mental, and moral development of amateur athletes and to promote good sportsmanship and citizenship; and
 
WHEREAS, founded in 1888 to establish standards and uniformity in amateur sport, the AAU is one of the largest non-profit, volunteer-driven sports organizations in the United States; and
 
WHEREAS, the 2011 AAU 4th Grade Division I Boys Basketball National Championship was held in Charlotte, NC, from July 17th through July 23rd, 2011; and
 
WHEREAS, led by Pickerington High School Central boys basketball coach and former Ohio State basketball star Jerry Francis, the All-Ohio Red fourth grade team won the national championship by beating some of the nation's premier teams and turning in what Coach Francis called a "total team effort"; and
 
WHEREAS, All-Ohio Red finished the season with an astonishing 60-1 record, thanks to the inspired play and teamwork of players Jerome Francis III, Jordan Mitchell, Gerard Reynolds, Jaidon Lipscomb, Garrett Wilson, Alvin Byrd III, Morgan Safford, RoShaun Harper, Aaron Cincione, John Hansell, and Na'Elle Simmons; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
 
That we hereby honor, recognize, and congratulate the All-Ohio Red fourth grade team for winning the 2011 AAU 4th Grade Division I Boys Basketball National Championship.
