Explanation

Background:
This ordinance will authorize the Director of Recreation and Parks to enter into a contract with HKI Associates, Inc for professional services in conjunction with improvements to 1533 Alum Creek Dr, future maintenance compound. Services will include site survey, develop program requirements, prepare schematic desing drawings and estimates, prepare design development drawings, prepare final construction documents and cost estimate, submit building permit, construction administration

HKI Associates were selected for this project from proposals received from eight (8) consulting firms. Interviews were hed and the following companies were interviewed: MS Consultants, Abbot & Abbot, and HKI Associates. It was determined that HKI's experience and ability to meet time frame was a determination in making the contract award. HKI was selected based on availability, knowledge of project site, and past experience with the department.

The Contract Compliance Number for HKI is #31-1305016

Emergency action is necessary to allow design to begin immediately. This project is related to Whittier Peninsula project.

Fiscal Impact:

$131,350.00 is budgeted in the Voted 1999 and 2004 Parks and Recreation Bond Fund to meet the financial obligation of this project.
