Title
To honor and congratulate the Ohio Hispanic Coalition on their Sweet 16th Anniversary Celebration.
Body
WHEREAS, the Ohio Hispanic Coalition (OHCO) is a private, non-profit Hispanic/Latino organization that stands as the leading community-based organization dedicated to serving Hispanics living in Central Ohio.
WHEREAS, Central Ohio celebrates the culture and traditions of our residents who trace their roots to Spain, Mexico and the Spanish-speaking nations of Central America, South America and the Caribbean; and
WHEREAS, OHCO has evolved into an agency with full-time bilingual employees, contract interpreters and more than 70 volunteers whose mission is to assist the underserved, disadvantaged, foreign-born and immigrant Hispanic/Latino populations in transitioning to a safe, independent, healthy, and high quality standard of life; and
WHEREAS, OHCO works to enhance social and human service provider's awareness of issues facing the Hispanic/Latino community in Central Ohio and the range of services needed to respond to their issues; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
That this Council does hereby congratulate the Ohio Hispanic Coalition on their Sweet 16th Anniversary Celebration on this 27th day of October 2006 and we encourage the community to learn more about the various cultures and contributions of our Hispanic residents.
