To honor and recognize Mr. Edwin L. Amos' dedication to inner city youth and to the Columbus community.

WHEREAS, In 1998 Mr. Edwin Amos was approached to start a junior tennis program at Wolfe Park ; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Edwin Amos, along with a handful of tennis enthusiasts, organized a tennis program to instruct inner city youth and to help them to establish opportunities though tennis; and
WHEREAS, Although Mr. Edwin Amos achieved success through the original program, he did not want to limit his potential to reach others, thus he established a year round tennis program; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Edwin Amos can often be found tutoring his students at various tennis clubs as early as seven o'clock a.m. prior to starting his day as a power engineer with AT&T; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Edwin Amos' work in Columbus, coaching his students at Wolfe Park Tennis Association, attracted national attention at USTA this year, when the Ace with Love junior program brought home fourteen trophies; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Edwin Amos currently serves as program director with the Wolfe Park Tennis Association Ace with Love Junior Program; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
That the City Council of Columbus, Ohio does hereby honor and recognize Mr. Edwin Amos's outstanding dedication, hard work and service to the Wolfe Park Tennis Association and the Columbus community.
