Title
To honor and recognize the Franklin Soil and Water Conservation District on 60 years of conservation.
Body
WHEREAS, Franklin Soil and Water Conservation District (FSWCD) has a mission to promote responsible land use decisions for the conservation, protection, and improvement of soil and water resources by providing information assistance through effective partnering, technical guidance and education; and
WHEREAS, FSWCD has a number of outreach and awareness programs including an Environmental Education that provides programs and loans kits to teachers, youth, citizen groups, landowners, and watershed groups; and
WHEREAS, The emphasis for Environmental Education programming centers on stream quality, basic soil knowledge, watershed drainage and non-point source pollution concepts; and
WHEREAS, FSWCD has been a strong advocate for urban conservation by encouraging land management decisions that consider natural resource realities and reduce negative impacts from development and urban activities; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
That we do hereby congratulate the Franklin Soil and Water Conservation District on the occasion of your 60th annual banquet on this 19th day of October, 2006.
