To honor, recognize and thank Jim Dowdy for his outstanding contributions to the City of Columbus and for his leadership on the Sharon Heights Community Association.
Body
WHEREAS, The Sharon Heights Community Association is a group of residents interested in the well-being of the people residing in and the community known as Sharon Heights; and
WHEREAS, Jim Dowdy has long served the Sharon Heights community well, and served as President of the Sharon Heights Community Association for 13 years;
WHEREAS, Jim has demonstrated himself to be a personable, professional and dedicated community leader through his abilities to build consensus, solve problems and get results; and
WHEREAS, among his many accomplishments, Jim worked with Columbus City Schools and Columbus Recreation and Parks to preserve the Sharon School property as green space; and
WHEREAS, Jim also worked with Chris Kassleman and other community leaders to support the protection of the Bill Moose Ravine; and
WHEREAS, Jim led the Sharon Heights Community Association in the development and support of many community initiatives, including "Flags on High"; and
WHEREAS, most importantly, Jim has and continues to reside on Kanawha Avenue with his wonderful wife Joan, and together they have raised four beautiful children; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
That this Council does hereby honor, recognize and thank Jim Dowdy for his years of dedication and service to the Sharon Heights Community Association and the City of Columbus.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this Resolution be presented to Jim Dowdy on the occasion of the March 17, 2009 Sharon Heights Community Association meeting.
