Explanation
The purpose of this ordinance is to authorize the City Clerk to enter into a grant agreement with Kaleidoscope Youth Center, Inc. in support of its general operations and capacity building. Kaleidoscope Youth Center, Inc. (KYC) is the largest and longest standing organization in the state of Ohio that is dedicated to centering the needs and experiences of LGBTQIA+ young people. Council is proposing $100,000.00 in funding for KYC. For 30 years, KYC has built a legacy of serving the community through dynamic youth centered programming, and continues to expand and respond to both the current and emerging needs of LGBTQIA+ youth and young adults. Since 2018, KYC has experienced significant growth in its resources, team members, programs, and overall impact in the community. Funding for general operations will support KYC in solidifying the internal capacity of the organization by strengthening our ability to innovate, sustain programs, and continue our culturally responsive work within the community.
FISCAL IMPACT: $100,000.00 is available within the Neighborhood Initiatives subfund for this purpose.
