Explanation

BACKGROUND: This ordinance authorizes the modification and increase of EL 005983 with Watson Wyatt for employee compensation consulting services. EL005983 was originally created for $35,000, however, a need exists to modify and increase EL005983 by $10,000 for a total contract amount of $45,000. The additional funds will allow for the completion of the MCP compensation study for the Health Department.

Emergency action is requested to avoid delays in the implementation of these services.

The contract compliance number for Watson Wyatt is 53-0181291.

FISCAL IMPACT: Monies for this contract were made available through the 2006 Health Grants Fund.

Body

WHEREAS, contract EL005983 with Watson Wyatt needs to be modified and increased by $10,000; and,

WHEREAS, emergency action is requested to avoid delays in the implementation of needed services; and,

WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Columbus Public Health Department in that it is immediately necessary to modify and increase a contract with Watson Wyatt for the immediate preservation of the public health, peace, property, safety and welfare; Now, therefore,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:


SECTION 1. That the Board of Health is hereby authorized and directed to modify and increase a contract with Watson Wyatt for employee compensation consulting services, for the period March 1, 2006 through February 28, 2007, in an amount not to exceed $10,000.

SECTION 2. That the expenditure is hereby authorized as follows:
