Explanation
Background:
This ordinance will enable the Director of Recreation and Parks to accept a grant, enter into an agreement with the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, and provide for the appropriation of said funds to the Recreation and Parks Grant Fund.
Grant funding will be used for the Quarry Wetlands Restoration
Emergency action is requested in order to have monies available for necessary expenditures.
Fiscal Impact:
$148,000.00 in grant funding will be used for the Quarry Wetlands Restoration.
The fiscal impact of this ordinance will be to reduce the Recreation and Parks Grant Fund's unappropriated balance by $148,000.00.

WHEREAS, the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has awarded the City of Columbus, Recreation and Parks Department, a grant to support the Quarry Wetlands Restoration; and
WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Recreation and Parks Department in that it is immediately necessary to accept grant and appropriate funds to have monies available for expenditures; now, therefore
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
SECTION 1. That the Director of Recreation and Parks be and he is hereby authorized and directed to accept a grant in the amount of $148,000.00 and enter into an agreement with the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency to support the Quarry Wetlands Restoration.
