Explanation

BACKGROUND: This legislation authorizes the Director of the Department of Development to modify contract DL010730 with the Economic Community Development Institute by extending the contract termination date from March 31, 2006 to March 31, 2007. The additional time will allow the contactor to continue to support the operation of the Chores Program.

Examples of program services include replacement or repair of leaking faucets and commodes, faulty light fixtures and switches, loose or missing sections of porch decking or steps and installation of handrails, smoke detectors and deadbolt locks.

An emergency is requested so this contract can be extended without an interruption to program services.

FISCAL IMPACT: No additional funds are needed for this modification.
