Explanation
BACKGROUND: This legislation authorizes the purchase of materials necessary for electricity distribution system improvements, a transfer of funds within the Voted 1995 and 1999 Street Lighting and Electricity Distribution Improvements Fund, and an amendment to the 2002 Capital Improvements Budget. The materials required include pole line hardware, wire and cable, wood poles and other miscellaneous materials as may be needed to extend a circuit to provide service for the existing police academy, the new police academy and a Division of Water pump station. The majority of the materials required are available from universal term contracts established by the Purchasing Office. The miscellaneous materials will be obtained in accordance with Columbus City Code Chapter 329 and Title 39. Please refer to attachment #ORD1553-2003vendors.xls for a listing of the commodities to be purchased, the respective vendors and their contract compliance numbers.
Emergency action is requested in order to obtain materials for the system improvements necessary to meet the construction schedule for the new police academy.
FISCAL IMPACT: There is sufficient funding in the Voted 1995 and 1999 Street Lighting and Electricity Distribution Improvements Fund, however, a transfer between projects and an amendment to the 2002 Capital Improvements Budget is necessary to provide funding in the appropriate project.
