To Recognize the Columbus Association for the Performing Arts and Celebrate the Opening of the Cinema Columbus Film Fest

WHEREAS, the Columbus Association for the Performing Arts (CAPA) is an invaluable asset to the City of Columbus, helping to cultivate a thriving live and performing arts scene and enriching our community through a diverse range of performances, including theater, music, and film; and
WHEREAS, April 26th, 2023 is the opening night of the Cinema Columbus Film Festival, commencing a five day celebration of independent filmmaking; and
WHEREAS, the event will showcase the best in independent cinema from around the globe and provide an opportunity for Columbus residents to discover new and exciting films; and
WHEREAS, screenings will be held across the city in several iconic venues, including COSI, CCAD, the Columbus Museum of Art, the Drexel Theatre, Gateway Film Center, the Lincoln Theatre, the McConnell Arts Center, the Palace Theatre, Studio 35 Cinema & Drafthouse, and the Wexner Center for the Arts; and
WHEREAS, the Cinema Columbus Film Festival is a unique annual event that strengthens the art community, increases Columbus’ profile as a creative and culturally rich city, and supports local venues and independent creators; and
WHEREAS, the City of Columbus is proud to support the Cinema Columbus Film Festival, thanks all of the staff at CAPA and in venues across the city for their work to host this incredible event, and encourages all residents to explore the diverse range of films in this year’s lineup; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: That this Council recognizes the Columbus Association for the Performing Arts (CAPA) and celebrates the opening of the Cinema Columbus Film Fest.
