Explanation
1. BACKGROUND: This legislation authorizes the Director of Public Utilities to enter into a construction contract with Danbert, Inc. in the amount of $961,419.30; to encumber funds with the Transportation Division for inspection, testing and prevailing wage coordination services in the amount of $164,555.00; to authorize an amendment to the 2007 Capital Improvements Budget; and to authorize the transfer of $1,063,399.44 within the Water Works Enlargement Voted 1991 Bonds Fund, in connection with the West Side Water Line Improvements Project.
2. CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AWARD: The Director of Public Utilities publicly opened six bids on July 11, 2007. Bids were received from: Danbert, Inc. - $961,419.30; Fields Excavating, Inc. - $1,101,997.44; Loveland Excavating of Columbus, Inc. - $1,119,522.96; Nickolas Savko & Sons, Inc. - $1,296,757.25; Darby Creek Excavating, Inc. - $1,684,234.90; and Tata Excavating Company - $1,783,284.70.
The lowest and best bid was from Danbert, Inc. in the amount of $961,419.30. Their Contract Compliance Number is 31-1029004 (expires 10/20/08, majority). 3. FISCAL IMPACT: This legislation includes a transfer of funds within the Water Works Enlargement Voted 1991 Bonds Fund and an amendment to the 2007 Capital Improvements Budget. The Division will also request the Auditor's Office to establish budgetary authority for funds made available through cancellations.
