Explanation
The Transportation Division is responsible for maintaining the City's roadway system through a viable renovation program. A concrete rehabilitation project is needed to prevent premature deterioration of the City's concrete roadways and to perform emergency repairs. This contract has been prepared with two parts: Part 1 consists of pre-selected streets requiring concrete rehabilitation; and, Part 2 consists of an "on-call" service for emergency and non-emergency concrete repairs. The locations and estimated quantities associated with Part 2 will be provided to the contractor at a later time in the form of "work orders".
This legislation authorizes the City to enter into a contract in an amount up to $225,993.50 for the Concrete Rehabilitation - 2008 project and to pay construction inspection costs up to $22,599.50. This project consists of concrete street repair within the City of Columbus and such other work, as necessary, to complete the contract in accordance with the plans and specifications. The estimated Notice to Proceed date is May 2008 with a contract duration of 365 days. This project was let by the Transportation Division and advertised in the City Bulletin, Dodge Reports and the Builders Exchange. Fourteen bidders/suppliers were solicited (13 majority, 1 minority) and four (4) bids were received (4 majority, 0 minority) on March 27, 2008 and tabulated on March 28, 2008 as follows:
