Columbus City Council recognizes and celebrates the life of Janet Jones and extends its sincere condolences to her family and friends on the occasion of her passing on August 29, 2003.

Ms. Jones was known as the long time Central Committee Woman for Columbus' Ward 31 "the Hilltop," she also served on numerous committees and service groups, including, the Hilltop Reunion Committee, the Franklin County Democratic Party (Central Committee member), the Victory Matrons Club, Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging, Columbus NAACP Executive Committee and the East High School Reunion Committee (Class of 1955).
She was a mother not only to her own children, but also to those women who felt they did not have a voice. Ms. Jones was a pillar of strength for many in our community.
Ms. Jones left an indelible impression on the people whose lives she touched, and she will be remembered for her generosity, compassion and wisdom. Clearly, the world is a richer place for Ms. Jones having been in it. She will be sorely missed
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
That this Council does hereby pay tribute to the memory of a truly honorable woman, Janet Jones
