Explanation
1. BACKGROUND:
This legislation authorizes modifying the professional engineering services contract with URS Corporation in connection with the Big Walnut Augmentation/Rickenbacker Interceptor Sewer Project.
This professional services contract was originally procured with a scope that included a multi-year renewable contract option for an entire scope of services. This provision allows the City to appropriate funds annually or on an as-needed basis depending upon the project's progress. This modification will fund services through May 31, 2004, and includes the balance of Part 2 design services, construction contract procurement, and the first five months of construction services on Part 1 of the Project.
This project will construct in two parts. Part 1 will install a 168-inch diameter sanitary interceptor sewer from the Southerly Wastewater Treatment Plant to the Alum Creek Drive/State Route 317 intersection, including the Shook Road and Rickenbacker Port Authority trunk sewers. Part 2 will construct a 144-inch diameter sanitary interceptor sewer from Alum Creek Drive/State Route 317 intersection north along Alum Creek Drive to the existing 108-inch Outfall Sewer.
2. PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING SERVICES MOD. AWARD: This contract is a multi-year contract that allows the City to appropriate funds on an as-need basis to cover the costs of services for a 12-18 month period, and it is necessary to fulfill the schedule and funding commitments for this project. This work is a planned, continuation of the services as originally included within the existing contract's scope of service. The contract total, including this modification is $12,606,721.00. It is also projected that modifications will be required in fiscal years 2004 and 2005 based upon current project schedules.
