Explanation
BACKGROUND: The purpose of this legislation is to authorize the City Clerk to enter a grant agreement with A Step in the Right Direction to provide upfront financial support for their Thankful & Thriving Resource Fair. The Thankful & Thriving Resource Fair is a community-centered event designed to support families and individuals during the holiday season. This event will connect residents with essential resources such as hygiene products, community resources, and a free turkey. The targeted population is low-income households. This event will allow the organization to continue to strengthen the community by increasing access to local support and reducing barriers to basic needs.
The goal is to serve 400 households. Funding will be utilized to purchase frozen turkeys (200-300 depending on the price). Funding provided by Columbus City Council will cover the rental of a frozen truck.
FISCAL IMPACT: Funding in the amount of $10,000.00 is available in the Neighborhood Initiatives Subfund, Subfund 100018.
