To recognize and congratulate Thekla (Teckie) Shackelford the 2004 Champion of Children Award winner.

Body

WHEREAS, Teckie has a long standing history of working to improve the lives of Central Ohio children; and

WHEREAS, Teckie is the founding member and Chairperson of I KNOW I CAN, which assures every Columbus Public School graduate the opportunity to attend college; and

WHEREAS, Teckie is also the founding member and President of Project GRAD Columbus, a non-profit urban education reform initiative that prepares students to enter and graduate from college; and

WHEREAS, Teckie is very good at recognizing the talents of young people and promoting them in a very positive light; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:

That this Council does hereby recognize and congratulate Thekla (Teckie) Shackelford the 2004 Champion of Children Award winner on this 3^rd day of February 2004.
