Title: To authorize and direct the Director of Recreation and Parks to submit a grant application to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for the Recreational Trails Program Grant for the purpose of improvements at Hayden Falls parkland.
Explanation
 
Background:
This ordinance will authorize the Director of Recreation and Parks to submit a grant application to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Recreational Trails Program with a 20% match of $24,150.00 from the City of Columbus.  
 
This grant is for the Hayden Falls parkland.  The Recreational Trails Program Grant would cover improvements including installation of 400 lineal feet of boardwalk along the bottom of the ravine connecting the existing stair with the observation platform at the base of the falls.  
 
Fiscal Impact:      
$24,150.00 would be from the City of Columbus Capital Improvement Program dollars.  This application authorizes an application only and is not a commitment to expend City funds.

            WHEREAS, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources is accepting applications for a Recreational Trails Program grant; and
 
            WHEREAS, the Recreation and Parks Department wishes to apply for said grant for the Hayden Falls parkland boardwalk;  now, therefore
 
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
 
      SECTION 1.   That the Director of Recreation and Parks be and he is hereby authorized and directed to submit a grant application to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for the Recreational Trails Program grant.
 
      SECTION 2.   That this ordinance authorizes an application only and is not a commitment to expend City funds.  
 
      SECTION 3.   That this ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
