To recognize James A. Johnson on the occasion of his induction into the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame on Friday, November 7, 2008

WHEREAS, James A. Johnson was drafted into the United States Army in 1945, spending 9 months of service in Germany, after which joining the Air Force as a police supervisor until his retirement in 1966; and
WHEREAS, The Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame was established in 1992 to recognize Ohio veterans with honorable military service who have gone on to make significant contributions to their community, profession, state, and nation; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson currently serves as President of Dynamic Leadership, an organization formed to discuss and implement ideas beneficial to ensuring equality, freedom, and justice for minorities and women; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson received the Herbert "Herb" Holliman Unsung Hero Award in 2005 for his tireless and dedicated service to improving our Columbus communities, as well as a Kentucky Colonel in 2006 for his immense contributions to the community; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson was awarded the AFCRC Certificate of Recognition in 2007 for his contribution, support and distinguished service in the community, specifically with regards to veterans affairs and has also been honored with a Veterans of Foreign Wards Award for his faithful support of Ohio Veterans; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson has been a lifelong advocate for the Driving Park community with accomplishments including organizing the first Block Crime Watch program in the City of Columbus in 1981 and the annual Youth Against Crime Rally, which celebrated its 27th year in 2008; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
That this council hereby recognizes Mr. James A Johnson on the occasion of his induction into the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame.
