To recognize and celebrate Off-Campus and Commuter Student Engagement at Ohio State University as the Keep Columbus Beautiful Group of the Year.

WHEREAS, Keep Columbus Beautiful, a national affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, is a community improvement program that emphasizes public education and volunteer service, with a focus on quality-of-life environmental issues including litter, recycling, and neighborhood beautification; and
WHEREAS, at their 40th Anniversary Celebration, Keep Columbus Beautiful recognized Off-Campus and Commuter Student Engagement at Ohio State University as their Group of the Year; and
WHEREAS, Off-Campus and Commuter Student Engagement is deserving of this award for their facilitation of monthly Clean-Up Columbus events, which successfully bring together students and community members, and make our community a cleaner and more sustainable environment; and
WHEREAS, these large-scale clean-up events, as the result of a collaboration between Off-Campus and Commuter Student Engagement, Undergraduate Student Government, and Sorority and Fraternity Life, have successfully elevated the sense of pride we have in the Ohio State community and positively impacted safety in our city; and
WHEREAS, the City of Columbus is grateful for community members, organizations, and partners who provide unwavering support and dedicate countless volunteer hours, with the goal of making our city a sustainable community for all; and
WHEREAS, Columbus City Council encourages all residents and community members to volunteer with Keep Columbus Beautiful, pick up litter in their neighborhoods, recycle, and promote other sustainable practices; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: That this Council does hereby recognize and celebrate Off-Campus and Commuter Student Engagement at Ohio State University as the Keep Columbus Beautiful Group of the Year.
