Explanation

Background: This legislation authorizes the Public Service Director to enter into a contract in an amount up to $1,039,185.21 for the Champion Avenue Improvement project and to pay construction inspection costs up to $149,271.00 for the Transportation Division. This improvement will rehabilitate the pavement on Champion Avenue between Williams Road and Hilock Road and provide new sidewalks, curb ramps, and curbs and gutters. The estimated Notice to Proceed date is June 12, 2005. The contractor has been given 365 days to complete the construction of the project. The project was let by the Transportation Division and was advertised in the City Bulletin, Dodge Reports and by the Builders Exchange. Seventeen bidders/suppliers were solicited (16 majority, 1 minority) and 9 bids were received (8 majority, 1 minority) and tabulated on March 15, 2005 as follows:
