Explanation

BACKGROUND:

Need: The City of Columbus Division of Police Narcotics Bureau is participating in a High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force. Federal funding for a building expansion project has been awarded to the task force by the Department of Justice. It is necessary to expedite the expansion of the existing space to help maximize the effectiveness of the task force activities. Therefore, the City needs to accept and appropriate the awarded funds for the HIDTA Build-out Project and the Director of Public Safety needs to be authorized to expend the funds as soon as possible.

Bid Information: The following bids were solicited as informal bids per Facilities Management:

Higgins Contracting $51,274.00
Pizzuti $64,595.00
Bomar Construction, Inc. $63,169.00

Contract Compliance No: 20-1254749

Emergency Designation: Emergency legislation is necessary to make the awarded funds available and to begin the expansion project at the earliest possible time.

FISCAL IMPACT: There is no impact for the City General Fund Account. All appropriated funds will be reimbursed by the task force funding award.
