To Recognize and Congratulate Dr. Howard T. Washington and Reverend Floria Washington for their 20th Pastoral Anniversary

 

Body

WHEREAS, Dr. Howard T. Washington is pastor of Second Baptist Church, the oldest African American Baptist Church in Columbus, where he has served since 2006. Reverend Floria Washington is a licensed and ordained minister of the gospel and serves as an Associate Minister, Servant Leader for the Women’s Ministry and a Teacher for the adult women’s Sunday school class at the Second Baptist Church of Columbus; and,

 

WHEREAS,  Dr. Washington received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Rutgers University, New Brunswick NJ. in Political Science and earned his Master of Governmental Administration from the University of Pennsylvania,  earned a Master of Divinity with honors from Oral Roberts University, Tulsa Oklahoma, Doctor of Ministry degree in Transformational Leadership from Ashland Theological Seminary; and,

 

WHEREAS, Dr. Washington is Moderator of the Eastern Union Missionary Baptist Association and is the immediate past president of the Baptist Pastor’s Conference of Columbus & Vicinity. He serves as Congress President of the Ohio Baptist General Convention, Congress on Christian Education; and,

 

WHEREAS, Dr. Washington is a member of the Franklin County Suicide Prevention Coalition where he serves as Vice Chair and is a certified QPR Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper Trainer, is a past board chair for Healthy Congregations, Inc; and,

 

WHEREAS, Dr. Washington and his wife Reverend Washington are parents to two adult children, Malcolm and Kamilah Morgan, one daughter-in-love Pastor Micah Morgan, one son-in-love Rev. Ian Morgan, and grandparents to two grandsons and one granddaughter; now, therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: That this Council hereby recognizes and congratulates Dr. Howard T. Washington and Reverend Floria Washington for their 20th Pastoral Anniversary.
