To welcome Gunter Pauli, a world-renowned social entrepreneur who has been described as "a new breed of innovator," to the City of Columbus.  
 
 
Body
 
WHEREAS, Gunter Pauli was born in Antwerp in 1956. He graduated in Economics from Loyola's University in Belgium and obtained his masters in business administration from INSEAD in France; and
 
WHEREAS, from 1991-1993 Mr. Pauli served as President of Ecover and built the first ecological factory to be featured on CNN prime time news; and
 
WHEREAS, Gunter Pauli founded and directs the "Zero Emissions Research and Initiatives" (ZERI) of the United Nations University in Tokyo, redesigning manufacturing processes into non-polluting clusters of industries. He laid the basis for the design of the first zero emissions industrial park in Chattanooga, Tennessee; and
 
WHEREAS, Fluent in six languages and having lived on all continents, Gunter Pauli is a world citizen, presently living in Kamakura, Japan, with his wife and two children. He has written eight books which have been published in twelve languages; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
