To Recognize And Congratulate City Treasurer Deborah L. Klie On Her Retirement

WHEREAS, it is Columbus City Council’s pleasure and honor to recognize Deborah L. Klie for her 29 years of distinguished public service to the City of Columbus on the occasion of her retirement as City Treasurer; and
WHEREAS, Deb has selflessly served the citizens of Columbus in a variety of roles since she began her esteemed career in 1996 as a Budget Management Analyst for the Department of Finance and Management, Director of Finance and Administration for the Municipal Court in 2005, and served as Deputy City Treasurer prior to being appointed as City Treasurer in 2009; and
WHEREAS, Deb’s broad range of business expertise and extensive experience in financial management and analysis has benefited the city greatly through her leadership role as City Treasurer to revolutionize the online and credit card payment systems city-wide through a multi-year banking modernization implementation project in partnership with the City Auditor and Finance and Management Department; and
WHEREAS, Deb has diligently worked for the past 16 years in the Treasurer’s Office to modernize and implement many system improvements through innovation and technology such as city-wide armored car service, garnishments, tracking down recipients of deceased payroll checks, payroll check printing transition to city-wide direct deposit, investment advisory services, point of sale cashiering and more; and
WHEREAS, Deborah L. Klie’s legacy of creativity and devotion will serve as an example of excellence for others to follow, and we acknowledge the great impact of her unselfish commitment, integrity and dedication to this City and the citizens we serve; and
WHEREAS, Treasurer Klie’s unique ability to encourage and motivate by example is an inspiration to all who have had the honor and privilege to know and to have worked with her; now, therefore
