Explanation
BACKGROUND: To authorize the Director of Human Resources to modify and extend the current Cantlon Associates, Inc. contract EA001894.
The Human Resources Department, Risk Management section, requires services to verify the accuracy of the Bureau of Workers' Compensation payroll and claims data for the City of Columbus; to provide occupational injury management data, access to Workers' Compensation data via computer hook-up, and general consulting services; to calculate the allocation of Workers' Compensation claims experience by department, division, and fund; to conduct claims management on a per request basis; and to attend hearings on a per request basis.
The contract was bid in 1999 and the term of the contract is for five years. Contained in the contract is an escalator clause, which permits the City to extend the contract upon renewal if the annual contract increases no more than three percent (3%) each year. Cantlon Associates, Inc. has guaranteed the same level of actuarial service through 8/1/03 - 7/31/04 for $38,581.42, which reflects a 2.1 percent increase over the previous year contract. The amount includes the base contract with additional funding for 20 claims management services and 40 hearing representations. Cost estimates are based upon projected hearings and claims management needs, in addition to base contract quotes. The costs of the modified contract agree with the original terms of the contract.
Contract Compliance No. 31-4360660
