To honor and celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Columbus Black Nurses Association
Body
WHEREAS, the Columbus Chapter of the National Black Nurses Association (CBNA), first inducted into the national organization in 1996, has served central Ohio for 30 years through education, advocacy, mentorship, and community leadership; and
WHEREAS, CBNA members have led and contributed to major public health initiatives, including the African American Male Wellness Agency Health Pavilion, chronic-disease prevention programs, culturally responsive mental-health education, scholarly works such as The Voices of Black Nurses: Our Challenges and Triumphs During the COVID-19 Pandemic, plus national and international outreach efforts; and
WHEREAS, CBNA has left a sizable impact in the Columbus community through health screenings for all ages, participation in career fairs, medical field recruitment in schools, plus offering NCLEX preparation and career development for aspiring nurses; and
WHEREAS, CBNA is strengthening the nursing pipeline by providing scholarships, mentoring student nurses, supporting academic advancement, and increasing diversity in the healthcare workforce in Columbus and across Ohio; and
WHEREAS, CBNA has earned a distinguished reputation through recognition including the 2026 NBNA Community Service Award, 2025 Who’s Who in Black Columbus VIBE Award, and national honors for leadership, mentorship, and community engagement; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: That this council hereby honors and celebrates the 30th anniversary of the Columbus Black Nurses Association and commends the organization for its outstanding contributions to healthcare, education, and community advancement.
