To Recognize and Celebrate Charleta Tavares as a Distinguished Honoree of the 2024 Columbus Urban League Herstory Makers Event

WHEREAS, Thursday, May 16, 2024 is the Columbus Urban League’s annual Herstory Makers signature event, which will honor eight trailblazing women in Central Ohio; and
WHEREAS, Charleta B. Tavares is the CEO of PrimaryOne Health (2015 -present), a FQHC/ CHC in Central Ohio- the oldest and largest FQHC in Central Ohio serving more than 41,000+ patients in Franklin & Pickaway Counties and the $43+ million organization has grown tremendously under her leadership with thirteen sites and four Mobile Health Centers; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Tavares is actively involved in the Ohio Association of Community Health Centers (OACHC) serving on the Board, Policy (chair) and Work-force Committees, and she is also active with the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) serving as a member of the Legislative, Healthcare for People Experiencing Homelessness (vice-chair), Policy Committees, as well as the Subcommittee on Healthy Aging; and

WHEREAS, Tavares is also a former elected official and served as the first: Democrat and African/ Black woman in the Ohio House of Representatives (1993-1998) and the Ohio Senate (2011 - 2018) from Franklin County; First -African/Black woman to serve in Leader-ship in the history of the Ohio General Assembly (1996); and First - Democrat woman to serve in Leadership in both the Ohio House (1996-1998 - Minority Whip) and Ohio Senate (2014-2018 - Assistant Minority Leader); and

WHEREAS, Tavares has served as a member of many boards, and is now currently serving on several including Lifeline of Ohio, Human Service Chamber, Ohio Association of Community Health Centers, Rise Together Innovation Institute, Health Impact Ohio, and Homeport; now, therefore,
