Explanation
Background:
This ordinance will enable the Director of Recreation and Parks to accept a grant, enter into an agreement with the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA)and the United States Tennis Association (USTA) , and provide for the appropriation of said funds to the Recreation and Parks Grant Fund.
Grant funding will be used as part of the Tennis in the Park Certified Instructor Program and will held in correlation with Summer Programs during July and August, 2003 at Woodward Park. Group instruction and playing opportunities will be offered for youth and adults.
This ordinance is submitted as an emergency to allow the financial transaction to be posted in the City's accounting system as soon as possible. Up-to-date financial posting promotes accurate accounting and financial management. Emergency action is also necessary to have funding available for necessary expenditures.
Fiscal Impact:
$5,000.00 in grant funding will be used for the 2003 Tennis in the Park Program.
The fiscal impact of this ordinance will be to reduce the Recreation and Parks Grant Fund's unappropriated balance by $5,000.00.
The expenditure of $5,000.00 is budgeted in the Recreation and Parks Grant Fund.
