To commend and celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Maroon Arts Group
Body
WHEREAS, the Maroon Arts Group (MAG) non-profit organization, officially created in 2016, has been a creative collective focused on empowering Black artists in Columbus for 10 years through outreach, collaboration, and execution; and
WHEREAS, MAG has consistently and effectively made grass roots connections with the Columbus community through workshops, classes, study groups, markets, art projects, and other community events; and
WHEREAS, MAG gives artists the resources to realize their dreams through spaces such as MPACC Park and programs such as the Collaboratory residencies; and
WHEREAS, MAG has delivered for Black artists in Columbus by securing nearly 80 grant awards, putting on over 200 events, paying over 500 creatives, and investing over $1.2 Million in the arts, culture, business, and civic ecosystem of Columbus; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: That this council and city hereby commend and celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Maroon Arts Group
