Explanation
The Curb Replacement - 2004 project involves the replacement of deteriorated and hazardous curb throughout the City of Columbus. As a result of the curb problems at intersecting streets, handicap ramps are installed in a continued effort to comply with current federal regulations.
Bids were solicited and received by the Transportation Division on May 27, 2004, and the results are as follows:

Decker Construction Company / $549,625.50 / Majority

The Transportation Division recommends acceptance of the bid submitted by G & G Cement Contractors (contract compliance number 31-0924129, expiring December 18, 2005) who submitted the lowest, best, most responsive, and most responsible bid.
Fiscal Impact: The contract amount is for $500,000.00 based on the bid documents allowing the City to award a contract for an amount more or less than the amount bid using the bid prices. The amount of $200,000.00 is budgeted and available for this purpose within the Curb Reconstruction project in the 1995, 1999 Voted Streets and Highways Fund with the summer bond sale. Another $100,000.00 is similarly budgeted and available in the Urban Infrastructure project within the same Fund. The difference, $200,000.00, is available within the Resurfacing project in the same Fund due to budgetary underruns and is transferred to the Curb Reconstruction project within this ordinance.
Emergency action is requested to allow for project commencement within the 2004 construction season. The project has been given 365 days to construct with a projected September 15, 2004, Notification to Proceed date.
