Explanation
BACKGROUND: This ordinance authorizes the Director of Public Utilities to enter into pole attachment agreements as needed with various entities needing to attach cable and other related and appropriate facilities on poles owned by the City of Columbus, Division of Power and Water. The Division of Power and Water has installed and maintains an extensive electricity distribution system in the City of Columbus. Various entities request permission to attach their cable, wiring or other equipment to these distribution system poles. This eliminates duplication of poles thereby limiting or eliminating aesthetic damage in the appearance of the community. In addition the Division of Power and Water receives a fee for each attachment, currently $16.00 yearly.
FISCAL IMPACT: Revenue from known and anticipated attachments is estimated at a potential maximum of $150,000.00 yearly
