Explanation
BACKGROUND:
The Scioto Southland Area Plan (formerly Far South Side Plan) serves as the first plan for the area bounded by SR 104 on the north, CSX Railroad tracks on the east, 1-270 on the south and the Scioto River on the west. The plan was initiated at the request of the Scioto Southland Civic Association (formerly Save Our Southside Civic Association). A Working Committee consisting of neighborhood stakeholders met monthly from June 2006 to April 2007 to provide input and guidance. Additional meetings, focused on key development concepts and other plan elements, included property owners and other stakeholder representatives. A draft plan was completed in the summer of 2007. After a recommendation by the Working Committee, an open house was held in August of 2007 to allow for broader public input. On September 10, 2007, the Scioto Southland Civic Association unanimously voted to recommend the draft to the Development Commission. The Development Commission reviewed the plan on September 27, 2007 and unanimously voted to recommend its adoption to City Council.
