1. BACKGROUND
This ordinance authorizes the Director of Public Utilities to enter into a professional services contract with Moody Engineering, LLC for the Yale Ave Area Water Line Improvements project, CIP #690236-100163, in an amount up to $336,840.90.

The purpose of this project is to design necessary improvements to the water distribution system in the Yale Ave Area. The improvements identified in the scope of work will replace or rehabilitate water lines that have high break histories and require frequent maintenance. This project includes replacing or rehabilitating approximately 10,575 linear feet of 2-inch, 6-inch, and 8-inch water lines and transferring existing services. The streets include S. Yale Avenue, Martin Avenue, W. Walnut Street, S. Davis Avenue, First Alley South of Sullivant Avenue, S. Sandusky Street, N. Guilford Avenue, Wendell Avenue, Guilford Avenue, Reed Street, Elmer Street, Union Avenue, First Alley East of Whitethorne Avenue, First Alley North of Union Avenue, Butler Avenue, Vadis Street, S. Burgess Avenue, Wicklow Road, S. Chase Avenue, and S. Westgate Ave.

This project is located within the Greater Hilltop (53) and Franklinton (54) Community Areas.

TIMELINE: The duration of the design phase for this project is expected to be 12 months.

ESTIMATED COST OF PROJECT: The bid amount and proposed award amount is $336,840.90, including a 15% design contingency amount that will be utilized to fund needed and approved changes in the work. No contract modifications are anticipated at this time; however, design exigency might later compel modification of this contract, if unforeseen difficulties are encountered.
