WHEREAS, Jerry Withrow joined the Steelworkers Union Local 2116, AFL-CIO in 1955 when he went to work for the Detroit Steel Corporation in Portsmouth Ohio, and   
 
WHEREAS, Jerry Withrow joined Steelworkers Union Local 2173, AFL-CIO in Columbus, Ohio when he began work at Timken Company in 1959, and
 
WHEREAS, Jerry Withrow served the members of Local 2173 in many capacities including Shop Steward, Workers Compensation Representative, Contract Negotiator, Vice President, and President, and
 
WHEREAS, Jerry Withrow was secretary-treasurer for Union Label and Service Trades Council of Central Ohio, AFL-CIO and Union Label and Service Trades Council of Ohio State, AFL-CIO, and
 
WHEREAS, Jerry Withrow had held the position of President of the Graduate Union Counselors Association, and
 
WHEREAS, Jerry Withrow is an avid promoter of Buy Union - Buy American, and
 
WHERAS, Jerry will be celebrating his 50th year as a Union Steelworker in 2005; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
 
That we do hereby recognize and congratulate Jerry Withrow for his lifetime of service to the Columbus labor community and for receiving the 22nd Annual Clarence Sheehan Award.
