To Endorse Passage of a 3.35 Mill Renewal and Increase Levy for the ADAMH Board of Franklin County

WHEREAS, ADAMH - the Alcohol, Drug and Mental Health Board of Franklin County - is charged with planning, funding and evaluating mental health and substance abuse prevention and treatment services for children and adults; and
WHEREAS, the Franklin County Commissioners have placed a 10-year, 3.35 mill replacement levy in support of ADAMH on the November 4 general election ballot; and
WHEREAS, one in four people suffer from a treatable mental illness or substance abuse problem, and this levy will provide much-needed funding to the ADAMH safety net of care, so services that help people help themselves will continue to be available; and
WHEREAS, ADAMH partners with more than 40 local non-profit agencies, including agencies such as Amethyst, Children's Hospital, Community for New Direction, Directions for Youth & Families and Project Linden, to provide mental health and substance abuse treatment services for more than 158,000 Franklin County residents each year; and
WHEREAS, in 2004, ADAMH invested more than $76 million in treatment services for more than 24,000 City of Columbus residents; and
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
That we do hereby endorse the passage of Issue 1, the 3.35 mill replacement levy for the support of the ADAMH Board of Franklin County and the people they serve.
