Explanation
BACKGROUND: This legislation authorizes the Director of the Department of Development to enter into a contract with the Columbus Partnership (Partnership). The contract is a cooperative funding agreement between the Partnership and The City of Columbus for the pursuit of federal funding for transportation and infrastructure improvement projects within the City of Columbus and Franklin County region. The City of Columbus, as the15th largest US city, is now joining other major metropolitan areas in requesting funding for projects through the Transportation Reauthorization Bill. This is a collaborative effort involving the City of Columbus, the Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce, The Ohio State University, Tech Columbus, the Columbus Partnership, Children's Hospital, the Central Ohio Transit Authority, the Columbus Regional Airport Authority, Ohio Health, the Columbus College of Art and Design, Franklin Park Conservatory, Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission, and the Columbus Downtown Development Corporation.
As the services of the consultant will benefit not only the Partnership but also the mission of the City of Columbus, the City has agreed to reimburse the Partnership for a portion of the Partnership's required payments to the consultant.
Emergency action is requested so that the consultant's services can be made available immediately.
FISCAL IMPACT: Funds for this contract are provided from the FY 2007 General Fund budget. $30,000 was contracted in 2006, $34,020 in 2005, $43,048 in 2004 and $75,000 in 2003.
